all clear!

it's been 11 days since ethan's vaccination, so i think he'll be just fine! no fever, no rashes, .... *touch wood* my boy is a healthy little boy :)

here's a side of him most of u have probably never seen - a "freshly bathed" ethan :D he stays clean and handsome like this for about 5 min after his bath, and then he's back to his grimy, untidy, saliva-smelling self .. sigh. but, it's a smell that i've come to love so much hee... it actually brings me a sense of comfort :P

ah pek

here's ethan in his 'ah pek' singlet - and mind u, we were not at a kopi tiam! we were having our lunch at this nice italian restaurant across the road from vic market, but the weather that day was just too hot and ethan was extremely frustrated, so we had to strip him down to his singlet to keep him cool (and our own cool too cos he was proving to be impossible!).

today we had an early taste of what's to come for summer - a whopping 31 degrees! ethan had trouble with his afternoon nap as he just wasnt used to the heat. even when he was only in his diapers and a singlet, he was still agitated. i seriously wonder how he's gonna survive the summer...

waaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!!!

we just came back from ethan's 12-mth immunisation at the community centre. before we left, i was still delusional, thinking that ethan, being all grown up now, might not even whimper at the injections and be a brave little boy! yeah rite :P he cried like there was no tomorrow the second the 1st needle went into his fat thigh : and when the 2nd n 3rd needles entered his left n right arms ... oh ho ho... you'd wish u werent in that room! anyway the nurse tried to pacify him with a yellow balloon but i guess he was so angry he didnt care for that dumb balloon at all n continued wailing his lungs out. he only stopped when we gave him his milk (greedy little boy).

so today, he's completed his 12 mth immunisation - with MMR, hib and meningococcal c. the next jab will be his 18-mth chickenpox one... i think i'd have to bring ear muffs along for that session.

anyway on a side note, he's finally started walking! took him less than a week to master the 'art' and now he walks everywhere :) check out the video (disclaimer: video is not very good cos its difficult to shoot him when he keeps coming for my phone!)

wagyu and portobello

we had dinner at steakhouse last evening and ethan tasted wagyu for the very 1st time (well actually it was a 1st for me too hee hee)! talk about kids being so lucky these days... anyway i guess he liked it cos normally when he takes meat, he'll take forever to chew and swallow it. but with the wagyu, he actually poked me and asked for more! not forgetting the portobello mushrooms too.. they were simply divine! ethan certainly can vouch for that cos he had so much i was afraid he'd throw up from being too full :P do toddlers actually know how to stop eating when they're full?!? i didnt actually prepare a separate portion for him so i had no idea how much he had, but it felt like i was chopping up mushrooms into bite-sized pieces the entire nite :P

dimsum, cakes and more!

these days when we are out for meals, we'll try to give ethan whatever's on the menu so we dont have to bring his baby food out - just his spoon! well, anyway it's high time he started learning to eat what we eat right? so this weekend, when we had dimsum, he had "pei dan zok" (ie century egg porridge), and when we went for cakes and coffee at st kilda, he had some tiramisu (this was an alcohol-free version of course!). and for dinner, when we had nando's fast food, he had some chicken tenders :) luckily his appetite is pretty good so he manages to stuff quite a bit of the food down into his tiny tummy!

glad to say though, that even though we've been giving him super-MSG-laden 'outside' food, he still takes his home-cooked porridge on days that we're at home, and the usual repertoire of yoghurt, milk, biscuits, fruit, bread (he seems to love multigrain!), etc....

hope he'll always have a hearty appetite like this ;)

ps: yes... he's still drooling like a fountain hence the bib :P

steadier

hmm... in just 2 days, ethan has improved his 'trotting' so much that i cant capture his little quick steps anymore! you can see from this video that he's much more stable now. i think he's realised that if he slows down, he can actually go a longer distance without falling over ;)
